How to delete your Peltra account
Last updated: 13 August 2026
From the app (the quickest way)
Profile → Your account → Delete account. It happens there and then, without writing to anyone and without waiting. The app tells you beforehand what it takes with it and what it does not, and to finish you have to type the word DELETE: that is on purpose, so it never happens from one tap too many.
Without the app
Write to hello@peltra.app from your account's email address, asking for it to be deleted. Without the app installed there is no other way to check the account is yours, and checking is compulsory: deleting the account of whoever asks for it by name would be an open door.
We reply and delete within one month, usually within a few days.
What gets deleted
- Your account and your credentials.
- Your profile: display name, handle, bio, colour and photo.
- Your lists, everything in them and their settings.
- Your invitations and any gift claims you made.
- The notification identifier of your devices.
- Your plan and your subscription status on our server. Note: cancelling the subscription is a matter for the store you took it out with (App Store or Google Play); deleting the account here does not cancel it there.
What does NOT get deleted, and why
Two things, and both because they are not only yours:
- Shared lists where someone else is left. They are not destroyed: they change owner and go on belonging to whoever stays. It would be odd for deleting your account to empty your partner's shopping list.
- What you wrote in other people's lists. It stays there, but without your name: the authorship is cleared and the history stops identifying you.
Lists that were only yours go with you, in full.
And if, while deleting the account, you tell us why you're leaving — the app asks, but it's optional and you don't need to answer to delete the account — that opinion is treated the same way: it stays so we can read it, but without your name.
How long until it is gone for good
Deletion is immediate in the database. Backups are rotated and expire in [actual period, depending on the Supabase plan], which is when the last trace stops existing.
